Paper weight

For sketching and practicing graphite drawings not intended for preservation or framing, an ideal paperweight is 110-130 gsm. This type of paper is lightweight and affordable. For more intricate drawings, it is advisable to use heavyweight papers ranging from 160 to 260gsm. Such paper can accommodate various drawing techniques and mediums, allowing for layering of graphite, charcoal, or colored pencil without concerns about damaging the surface. Opting for paper around 260gsm will also minimize the risk of marker or ink bleeding through to the other side, making it particularly suitable for professional use.
